Human resourcing for this entertainment company was a tricky business as it was difficult to know how many customers there would be to service on any given day. Understaffing was negatively impacting the customer experience, whilst overstaffing was costing tens of millions of dollars each year. Huge numbers of staff spread across many locations, with different contracts and levels of competence, made it impossible for managers to schedule efficiently.
To forecast demand we built a predictive analytics tool which combined historic footfall data with secondary sources. Based on these insights we developed a shift scheduling system which optimises rotas according to staff availability, competence and preferences, as well as workplace regulations and customer demand.
