I used to do research in subjective multimedia quality and video compression in various labs in France and in Austria, but was not very good at it. What I'm good at is building stuff. I used to teach IT and Computer Science at Universities, but I did not like it too much. What I like is to do stuff, rather than to prepare stuff for others to do and then check that they did it right. Now I'm a programmer and I'm just loving it! I love the craftsmanship, the diverse set of skills needed to build stable, sane systems. Can anybody tell me why I did not take a programming job earlier?
